The New Zealand discard Jesse Ryder has smashed a 39 ball century for Otago against Ireland earlier in the day today at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval at Lincoln. Batting first , Irish team posted a total of 248 runs, leaving Otago to chase down 249 and then Jesse Ryder’s show began. Rydr smashed 136 runs of just 57 balls before getting out He notched up his fifty in nust 16 balls . Ryder’s knock included 15 fours and 5 sixes . Otago won the game in the 32nd over by 3 wickets.
There were questions over Ryder’s place in the New Zealand side and he was sidelined from the squad , for both behaviour and form. Head coach Mike Hesson clearly said that he won’t consider Ryder for a place in the side until and unless he improves his behaviour. Ryder has had a number of behaviour issues in the recent past.
With Ryder coming back with a successful stay with English County Essex and the New Zealand side looking for an opener, few more of these innings will surely make a genuine case for his place in the side.
With New Zealand set to play most of it’s World Cup game at home and the small grounds will help Ryder’s powerful batting. Also the fact that he is decent with his medium pace bowling, he will be an asset for the team.
