Suspended footballer Joey Barton believes that the trio were not the only players who knew about the ball-tampering plans. Meanwhile, he also admitted that a 12-month ban is harsh on the part of the players.
In a series of tweets, Barton, who is also serving a ban or betting offenses has his say on the topic that has got everybody talking.
The event took place on the third day of the third Test at Cape Town. Television footage showed Cameron Bancroft using some yellow sticky material to change the shape of the ball.
Meanwhile, CA sanctioned the disgrace Australian trio. While Warner and Smith received 12 months ban, Bancroft got a 9-month ban. However, to everyone’s surprise, head coach Darren Lehmann decided to step down, despite CA giving him a clean chit.

The 35-year-old Barton tweeted:
“Surely Steve Smith, David Warner and Bancroft are not the only people to either know about the ball being altered in Aus team. Can’t be the 1st people in the cricket world who have done it.”
“12 months ban is harsh. Still shouldn’t be crying like…#BallTamperingRow,” he added.

However, he made a valid point in his second tweet. Barton raised eyebrows regarding three batsmen making the plan.
I mean 3 batsman tamper with the ball and NO bowler realises? I mean come the f**k on! #SandpaperGate
