John Hastings Eyes India’s Tour after Foot Inflammation 1

Australia’s injury-marred fast bowler John Hastings is hopeful to recover in time – to feature in the proposed limited-over series against India, if selected, after returning to the domestic circuit which is subject to gain the complete fitness, as foot injury had already ruled him out of the English County competition earlier this month.

“From my point of view I want to give myself the best chance of being on that [India] tour, because I’m getting to the age where you never know when it’s going to be your last one,” Hastings told RSN Breakfast Club and was quoted by Cricket.com.au.

Hastings, who has, however, played the decent role for Australia during his short-stint in the 50-over format, is looking forward to recovering as soon as possible to hit the ground again while donning the national jersey.

Interestingly, the Australia’s limited tour is scheduled in September and October in India, as Hastings is focusing on his fitness – to bend his back again on the 22-yard surface.

“I’m in a moon boot for a couple weeks and then I’ll reload and hopefully be all right for the domestic one-day cup and that one-day series (in India),” Hastings added.

It’s important to reveal that the inflammation in Hastings’ left foot has forced the paceman to return to Australia while being the part of premier club Worcestershire, in now in a race to make himself available for the gruelling challenge against the formidable India in the subcontinent.

Moreover, Hastings has undergone rehabilitation and further assessment after the early exit from County cricket, as he further felt the case could have been worse.

“Obviously there’s a big summer coming up and a one-day tour to India so I wanted to make sure I’d be cherry ripe, but I ended up with a hot spot in my foot,” Hastings maintained.

The 31-year-old bowling all-rounder Hastings picked the injury during the four-day game against Sussex in the Division two game of the competition in the United Kingdom.

“I had a bit of pain in my left ankle for a little while and I thought I should get it checked out,” Hastings remarked.

In the Twenty20 fixtures for Worcestershire this year, Hastings batted as an opener before featuring in six out of 10 first-class games for the county outfit.

Earlier, the New South Wales-born bowler had undergone the MRI scan which revealed the inflammation and stress through one of his bones, as back in Australia Hastings revealed doctors stated it isn’t that serious matter this time around.

“Hot spots are a hard one to gauge on giving a time frame, sometimes you’re back in six weeks and sometimes it’s 12 weeks,” Hastings concluded.

It becomes important to figure out that Hastings, who has been the part of the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy for Australia, struggled with his knee last year which eventually left him out for half of the season for Australia.

After making his debut in 2010 against India, Hastings played 29 ODIs, nine T20Is and a solitary Test. He has claimed 50 wickets across all three formats.
