Jonathan Trott and Ben Stokes recalled by England for West Indies Tests
Jonathan Trott, the English batsman, who has been out of the frame of international cricket since the first test of the 2013/14 Ashes series, citing stress-related issues, has been recalled to the English squad that tours the West Indies for a three-match test series next month.
The swashbuckling batsman has represented the England Lions since then, coring 5 centuries and also compiling a double century while the team toured South Africa last January.
The 33 year old batsman from Warwickshire features amongst the 16 player squad to be led by skipper Alastair Cook, who also makes a comeback to the international team after missing the world cup, where the England team failed disastrously.
The selectors have once again reposed their faith in the experienced right hander, and have also trusted the team to build on the success they experienced last summer against India.
In a surprising turn of events, explosive all-rounder Ben Stokes from Durham earned a recall, after being dropped from the world cup squad, with his country teammate Wood, a promising speedster who has been plagued by injuries but is confident to overcome them, also included.
There is a spot for the fast bowler Liam Plunkett, who took 19 wickets in four Tests last summer before an ankle problem ended his summer.
Squad: Alastair Cook (capt), Jonathan Trott, Adam Lyth, Gary Ballance, Iam Bell, Joe Root, Jos Buttler (wk), Jonny Bairstow (wk), Ben Stokes, Adil Rashid, James Tredwell, Liam Plunkett, Stuart Broad, Chris Jordan, James Anderson, Mark Wood.
