As Aussies inch closer to an epic triumph at the Gabba, Brisbane, England are stuffed with more bad news coming towards them. According to reports, England all-rounder Jonny Bairstow is under scrutiny for allegedly headbutting Australian opener Cameron Bancroft who just made his Ashes debut. The news was revealed by Fox Sports News’ Neroli Meadows on late Sunday night, which states the shameful incident. The news also put light on the matter that Bairstow is currently under investigation by the England Cricket Board. A few weeks ago, another English all-rounder caught the headlines after a video of him punching a man went viral in media. Stokes was left with a broken fielder and was also arrested for the same.
The footage of Stokes landing punches on the man was caught on CCTV and the ECB punished the player by suspending him. Stokes is currently under suspension but the ECB has not ruled him out completely from the Ashes.
The Bancroft-Bairstow chapter took place outside a hotel in Perth when England started their tour of Australia. The news piles the misery on the English team who struggled cope up with the fierce Australian bowling attack in the first Test. Australia took a 26 run lead in the first innings owing to a magnificent 141 not out from skipper Steve Smith. The English team got bundled out for a mere score of 195 in their second innings and allowed the Aussies to capitalize on the opportunity.
Australian Vice-captain David Warner and fresher Cameron Bancroft are solidly set at the crease and the Kangaroos are just 56 runs away from taking a lead in the series. The scoreboard currently stands at 114 for no loss, and it would be the icing on the cake if Bancroft can put the final nail in the coffin by remaining unbeaten.
