Reliable South African middle-order batsman JP Duminy has announced his retirement from international cricket following the conclusion of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. The southpaw is expected to be part of the South Africa bound squad for the quadrennial event. JP Duminy has served South Africa for several years in the past and he feels this is the correct time to call it quits from international cricket.
South Africa played their last match before the start of the World Cup against Sri Lanka yesterday and ended up winning the 5 match series 5-0. It was a sensational performance by the Proteas which saw them thrash Sri Lanka quite comfortably in the bilateral series. Following the end of the series, JP Duminy posed with Imran Tahir and shared the picture on his Instagram handle with a beautiful and heartwarming message.

JP Duminy made a mark in international cricket in 2008
The southpaw made his ODI debut back in 2004. However, it was only in 2008 during the series against Australia that Duminy made a big name for himself in the international circuit. It was during the Test series in Australia that Duminy came into the limelight with a sensational century. South Africa was set an improbable victory target of 414 to chase in the final innings in Perth. South Africa scripted a record and recorded the 2nd highest successful run chases in Test cricket.
