Former Chief Justice of India, Rajendra Mal Lodha, has criticised BCCI and the Committee of Administrators (COA) for not implementing the Lodha recommendations till now. His comments have come after BCCI recently formed a committee to look into the critical areas of the recommendations, which will give its report by July 10,
“This is an internal matter of the board, but how long can the board continue to stall reforms? Whatever objections or reservations they had were heard in court and only after that was the order passed. They can’t keep finding one excuse after another. Whether illegal or not, it is certainly against the spirit and soul of the court order,” he told The Indian Express.
The Supreme Court of India had earlier sacked then BCCI President Anurag Thakur and Secretary Ajay Shirke for non-implementation of Lodha recommendations, which then resulted in the formation of the Committee of Administrators (COA) led by Vinod Rai.
Justice Lodha also took on COA, for being deviated by the tactics of BCCI to escape from the implementations of reforms,
“I don’t understand why they (COA) have got involved in incidental matters and not shown urgency in doing the job they were supposed to perform”.

BCCI is finding every way to avoid implementation of the reforms in toto. There are few of the points in that manuscript like one state-one vote, cooling off period between two successive terms and the nine-year tenure period where there is an impasse. Board has already formed a committee to look into reforms. Last year as well, BCCI held an SGM where no result was computed, which ultimately resulted in the sacking of BCCI President and Secretary, followed by the resignation of many state administrators.

BCCI has to submit the answers in front of the Supreme Court on July 14, from where the hearing will start once again and the court will listen to BCCI’s view. Though there are no chances of Supreme Court taking a firm step on the board, as they have to enact upon the Lodha recommendations. (Read Here: Niranjan Shah Bats For His Place In BCCI Committee)
