New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson has become the most successful batsman owing to the overall Test hundreds under his belt, as of now. He achieved the milestone while playing his 64th Test at Eden Park in Auckland against Joe Root-led England.
The 27-year-old top-order batsman Williamson has gone past late Martin Crowe and rock-solid, Ross Taylor He went on to break the record of most hundreds in the Test fold of New Zealand.
The calm-and-composed figure brought-up his 18th hundred with a single on the offside.
Williamson, who burst onto the international scene with much of the promise has proved his mettle from the time-to-time.
Being in the rollicking form, so far, in 114 Test innings, Williamson has racked up 5,316 runs at an average of 51.11. He also struck 26 half-centuries since making his Test debut in November 2010 against India.
The former Kiwis batsmen, Crowe smashed 17 centuries in 77 Tests. He also served as the coach and commentator before breathing last on March 3, 2016.
Senior middle-order batsman Taylor has registered the 17 tons in 150 innings of 84 Tests. He is in a race with the team leader Williamson while donning the whites.
Interestingly, Taylor is also on the verge of surpassing the former Black Caps skipper Crowe. Taylor has heaped praises on his mentor while delivering for the Kiwis.
However, the right-handed batsman Williamson smashed 102 off 220 balls. He smashed 11 fours and a solitary six in his innings.
The Tauranga-born batsman was trapped in front of the stumps by England pace spearhead James Anderson.
Earlier, starting off the proceedings with the overnight score of 175 for three; Williamson was batting on 91 off 177.
Moreover, the intermittent rain forced the players to walk off the ground after 23.1 overs were bowled.
Having the appetite to score runs, Kane Williamson has set the burgeoning example for youngsters.
