New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is known to be one of the calm and composed players in the cricketing arena. The 28-year-old player may be the captain of New Zealand cricket team but he has never been seen losing his cool on the field. He is one of the calmest and composed captains, one of the rare things that we see in today’s world.
His calmness was under a real test in the final of World Cup 2019, where an umpiring howler and vague rules saw New Zealand lose the match. Williamson was still smiling during the post-match presentation and the presser.
A video of Williamson’s calmness has taken the internet by storm. In the video, Williamson is being informed that he is the Player of the Tournament. The news left him surprised and stunned. Here is the video –

Williamson scored a total of 578 runs in the tournament and had a tough competition with Rohit Sharma and Shakib al Hasan for the award. The selection panel felt that Williamson deserved the award more than any other player and he was adjudged as the Player of the Tournament.
It is to be noted that all the runs scored by Williamson came in tough situations as barring one occasion, New Zealand’s top order never fired during the tournament. He received the award from legend Sachin Tendulkar, who still holds the record of most runs in an edition of World Cup – 673 in 2003 World Cup.
The final of World Cup 2019 ended in a tie with England managing to score 241 in 50 overs. For the first time, ODI cricket saw a super over and the 12-ball affair also ended in a tie with both the teams scoring 15 runs each.
England were crowned as the World Cup champions for the first time by virtue of scoring more boundaries than the Blackcaps. Although the home side was wrongly rewarded one extra run by the on-field umpires during the final over.
