Kapil Dev is very happy to be the first cricket great to ring the bell at the Eden Gardens which will signal the start of today’s India vs New Zealand Test at the Eden Gardens.
Speaking from New Delhi yesterday morning, Kapil said that he was happy to note that the installing of the Lord’s Cricket Ground like a bell was a result of Indian cricket officials travelling and noticing different grounds around the world.
He was also happy when told that now cricketers will have a clock to view from the iconic ground, something that was missing at the Eden Gardens until last year.
“Every ground must have a big clock for the players to see. It reminds me of the clock tower at Lord’s. I hit the ball towards it in the 1980s, but then in later years I couldn’t spot it,” said Kapil.
The Eden Gardens is hosting the 250th Test match of India at home. The first match at Kanpur was India 500th which India won by 197 runs.
The Eden Gardens organized a photo exhibition and launched the Lord’s like a bell which inaugurates the 250th Test match at home.
The both India and New Zealand were also felicitated by Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).
