The World Cup-winning skipper and former fast-bowling all-rounder Kapil Dev remarked he feels the cricketers could take a break if they are not prepared to take the field following the reluctance owing to the workload while adding he can’t be critical in this regard.
Dev explained he is travelling with the players to observe their work process, as he took a neutral stance while addressing the press conference in Hyderabad.
“If cricketers (are) saying there (is) too much cricket, must be. I don’t know. I am not with them. I cannot really make any judgement on their behalf,” Dev was quoted as saying by PTI.

The 58-year-old Dev revealed he would not be cynical while having his own opinion regarding a break professional players are taking following the rigorous schedule.
“They (cricketers) can take a break, if they don’t want to play…they are professionals,” Dev maintained.
Interestingly, the current lot of cricketers has been undergoing rigorous schedules with plenty of international cricket on an offer the professionals are further supposed to handle the procedure while representing the respective national sides.
On Indian front, the Board of Control for India (BCCI) has already set-up the rotation policy which recently saw the spin-bowling duo Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were rested for the series against Australia and then New Zealand before both were inducted in the Test squad for the ongoing three-match series against Sri Lanka.

Briefing the media fraternity, Dev cited an example of working journalists while focusing on the professionalism. He further added if the scribes won’t write the reports else could take his/her place which won’t affect them owing to the long-term plan.
Moreover, the fast-bowling all-rounder Dev stated the professionals in the gentleman’s game have a right to take a call after giving their best on the field.
“I think today’s game is profession and a professional can always say, ‘I don’t want to play, ‘I can play’,” Kapil said.

On the other side, Dev hailed the efforts of Team India while going from strength to strength since past 15 years. Dev further added Virat Kohli-led side has been going at exceptional to make the country proud.
“I think they are wonderful. They are a great team at the moment. Last 10-15 years, the Indian team has done really well,” Dev explained.
The Chandigarh-born has also been nursing the youngsters earlier thought that investing in youngsters would set a huge platform for the players, who are looking forward to representing the country at the top-level cricket.

Pertinently, Dev’s all-round efforts way back in 1983 helped his national side to lift the maiden World Cup title against Windies.
