The Karnataka side has been on a roll in the domestic season since last year. They won the Ranji Trophy, Irani Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy. This team has some excellent players that have represented India A in the past. These players include Manish Pandey, Robin Uthappa.
In this year’s domestic season the team has retained the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The team has some good batsmen like Manish Pandey, Robin Uthappa, Karun Nair, and CM Gatuam. The bowling attack looks impressive with the likes of Vinay Kumar, Mithun, HS Sharath, Sheryas Gopal, Stuart Binny. In this year’s Ranji Trophy so far Karnataka has played some positive cricket in the tournament. They have played four matches in the season so far and won all of them in empathic style. They have played against Tamil Nadu, Bengal, Railways and Jammu& Kashmir.
In the first match of the season Karnataka batted first and were bowled out for 290. The main scorers in the innings were Kunal Kapoor with 87 and CM Gautuam with 94. Tamil Nadu in their first innings were bowled out for 274. Tamil Nadu were cruising at one moment but lost wickets to give Karnataka the first innings lead. Karnataka in their second innings declared at 351 for 5 with Uthappa and Aggrawal scoring 76 and 80 respectively. Then Manish Pandey and Stuart Binny scored quick runs to give TN a target of 368. TN were bowled out for 82 in the 2nd innings with Vinay Kumar picking up 3 wickets and S Arvind picking 4 wickets to give Karnataka a big win in their first match.
In the next three matches Karnataka continued their great form. They beat Bengal by 9 wickets, Railways by 136 runs and Jammu Kashmir by an innings and 30 runs. This team has been performing well as a unit from the last one year. When the team is struggling someone or other scores runs or take wickets to bail the team out of trouble.
This team will now play Madhya Pradesh, Baroda, Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai. The form in which they are they will be playing with same intent as in the previous.
Uthappa has been in top form in the Ranji Trophy, Manish Pandey has been scoring runs, Karun Nair scoring runs. In the bowling department Vinay Kumar has been leading well as a captain, Mithun picking up wickets and S Arvind picking wickets.
