Team India cricketer Karun Nair, who recently missed out on the Test squad against Windies is currently the fittest cricket in team India.
Meanwhile, the selectors surprisingly omitted Nair from the Test squad after warming the benches in England. Since his triple-hundred in Chennai, he has played only three games for India. Furthermore, Hanuma Vihari got the better him in the last Test against England when he made his debut despite Karun Nair being in the squad.
Nair admitted that he has worked on his game a lot on his game during his stay in England. He also talked about working with trainer Shankar Basu and batting coach Sanjay Bangar. Moreover, according to Basu, he is currently the fittest cricketer and is better than Virat Kohli.
“I’ve been spending a lot of time with (Shanker) Basu Sir, our trainer and Sanjay Bangar sir as well, our batting coach. Obviously a lot of throwdowns and a lot of net sessions. But mainly I have been spending time with Basu Sir. According to him, I am the fittest person in the team right now. I am very proud of that and I just want to keep improving on that,” Karun Nair said to Cricbuzz.
Speaking on his tough times, Nair admitted he has fallen back on his close ones during these tough days. He also talked about his family during these times.
“Close ones are always there. It is the hardest time when you know who really your close ones are. I’d not like to take names but there a few close ones, obviously family is there,” Karun Nair concluded.
India will play a two-match Test series against Windies starting from October 4 at Rajkot.
