Karnataka Cricket Association (KCA) have put all extraneous efforts to make this competition a success, and also give wings to aspiring cricketers as the idea came up way back in 2009. Growing stronger with each season, the domestic competition KPL has scaled new heights.

The league has gained a significant popularity, and they are now aiming to expand the profits while not relying solely on the national cricket body Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The impending competition will witness overall 24 matches in over three-week cricket carnival in the southern state of India.

Interestingly, the game has seen fresh faces during the KPL Players’ Auction to provide a significant platform for the youngsters to rise among the ranks.

The seven teams will feature in 21 league stage matches before wrestling in the knockout games as the grand finale will take place on September 23 at Hubli Cricket Ground (HCG).

Such mini-leagues have worked wonders for the players in recent past, as a rookie are eyeing to give their best and to impress the selectors for the first-class leg of Ranji Trophy before forcing themselves into the national squad following the remarkable performances throughout the years.

The opening game of the 2017 KPL season will feature Belagavi Panthers and Hubli Tigers on Friday, September 1.

A closer look at different squads, reveals that the teams are eager to give an all-round show and to beat each other on the points table.

Each team is allowed a roster containing a maximum of 18 players.

The prospects of the Team India:

After proving the mettle by being the part of the Indian contingent at an elite-level, promising batsmen KL Rahul and Manish Pandey are also participating in the tournament which would further boost the competition.

At present, both the players are on the national duty in Sri Lanka and are expected to feature in couple of matches after returning from the Island.

The representation of national players:

The 25-year-old top-order batsman KL Rahul is starring for Bellary Tuskers, while 27-year-old Nainital-born Manish Pandey is a part of the KPL outfit Belagavi Panthers and all-rounder Stuart Binny is also making his appearance for the Panthers.

Moreover, triple-centurion Karun Nair is also ready to swing the willow while being in the fold of Mysuru Warriors as the league would witness quality players from widely acclaimed professional league Indian Premier League (IPL) too.

The IPL Connection:

Rising to the occasion, the players from IPL include KC Cariappa, K Gowtham, Kishore Kamath and Shivil Kaushik who have had grabbed the headlines after fetching a good deal from the different outfits of the league which kicked-off in 2008.

The Mechanism:

Earlier, KSCA revealed they are looking forward to bring on the particular apparatus to take the league to a new high in the foreseeable future after it returned with a bang in 2014, owing to the revamping of the league which is further taking place under tight vigil and the Anti-Corruption Code set-up from the concerned authorities.

The inclusion of Ranji players participating in the tournament would boost the morale of the budding talent, who are looking forward to showcasing their talent and eventually learn the niceties of the game in the 23-day competition.

On the other side, the players would also learn how to absorb the pressure during the competition, in front of the jam-packed crowd which is a focal point in every cricketer’s career.
