Karsan Ghavri Announced As President Of Former Ranji Players Association For Saurashtra
An association from Saurashtra has been formed according to the recommendations of Supreme Court-led Lodha Committee which is based on former Ranji cricketers, and former Indian player Karsan Ghavri has been nominated committee’s president.
“The association, named Saurashtra Players Association, has been formed as per Lodha committee recommendations,” the Rajkot-born Gharvi was quoted as sauing by PTI.
However, the association has come into being from Saurashtra in the presence of former first-class players which include Chetan Mankad, Hitesh Parsana, Sudhir Tanna, Rajendra Jadeja and Bipin Pujara.
“The new committee will work together with the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) for the development of the game in the region,” the 49-year-old Tanna, who had played 54 first-class matches, added.
Gharvi had made his international debut for India on January 1, 1975 against the West Indies.
The 66-year-old left-arm bowler Gharvi bagged 109 wickets in 39 Tests at an average of 33.54. In 19 One-day Internationals, he claimed 15 wickets.
Known for his all-round skills, Gharvi played 159 first-class games in which he bagged 452 wickets and scored 4500 runs.
