There’s a lot of familiarity with the name MS Dhoni, that too, beyond the cricketing circles. He has not only proved himself on the sporting arena by scaling greater heights, owing to the certain qualities he has impressed one and all with his immaculate approach. Meanwhile, his childhood coach Keshav Ranjan Banerjee has revealed Dhoni has often backed himself to grow from strength to strength.
The 37-year-old Dhoni is known for his humility. It has earned him fan-base worldwide apart from him being as an astute thinker. Also, Banerjee has set an example by maintaining integrity. He stated while responding to a question regarding the match tickets.
“I am not his biological father but a father figure. It’s a shame if a father demands anything from his son,” Banerjee told the First Post.
Mahi is still shy: Keshav
Dhoni, who’s has won numerous games for India with his finishing prowess, further delivered the punch by backing youngsters in the line-up.
Besides, his school coach Banerjee revealed Dhoni’s is introvert. He added his ward knows it well how to hide his emotions. Banerjee has lavished praise on Dhoni for being dedicated to representing the country at the highest level.
“He was and still is a very shy boy. He could always hide his feelings with a smile. Dhoni knew that cricket was his calling for a life he wanted for himself. Even more for his family. Mahi is still like that,” Banerjee further said.
While discussing the biopic – MS Dhoni, the Untold Story, Banerjee revealed he was sad after encountering people asking him whether you were paid or not?
Pertinently, actor Rajesh Sharma made an appearance as Dhoni’s coach in the blockbuster movie.
“Some people asked me were you paid as they portrayed your character in the film and I was disgusted,” Banerjee said.
MSD an introvert?
Interestingly, according to the then biology teacher of ‘Mahi,’ Sushma Shukla reminisces the Ranchi star preferred to remain silent. The retired teacher of Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Sushma recalled Dhoni didn’t like her question whether he’s ‘Singh’ or ‘Dhoni’.
“He was a very quiet child. I taught him biology in 7th and 8th standard. I remember asking him “Mahendra, you are Singh or Dhoni? He never liked that question. He replied ‘Maam hum Singh bhi hain aur Dhoni bhi’,” added Sushma
With India wrestling against Australia in the third ODI at Ranchi, Banerjee revealed MSD’s mother Devaki Devi had managed few passes for him.
“I have got a couple of passes for the third ODI. I had called up Mahi’s mother and she had arranged for them,” Banerjee inferred.
With the Men in Blue leading the five-match ODI series 2-0, the third match will commence on March 8 (Friday) at 1:30 IST in Ranchi.
