Newly appointed England ODI captain Eoin Morgan has said that their current limited overs side is gelling up well and it doesn’t need Kevin Pietersen amongst its ranks.
During a match of BBL 04, Pietersen, while commentating said that the new England ODI captain i.e. Eoin Morgan wants him in the team, but during a press conference on January 15th clarified that England has moved on from KP saga and their focus is to win the ICC World Cup 2015.
Morgan said:
“I’m very happy with the group of players that I have – I think this is the best group of players we have to drive the England team forward over the next two months in particular.
“Kevin’s situation hasn’t changed over the last year. It’s been reiterated over months and days his position. It was reiterated before Christmas by the chairman of selectors and I am reiterating it again just to clear it up.”
When pressed on whether England would be stronger if Pietersen is in, Morgan tagged it as a “terrible question”.
“Kevin is not in the side, he won’t be in the side for the foreseeable future so there’s no point in answering that question,” Morgan added.
