Windies all-rounder Kieron Pollard, who had not obeyed the umpire, has received a demerit point with 20 per cent fine as a match fee. According to the ICC release, Pollard has violated Level One of the ICC Code of Conduct during the penultimate T20I against India at Florida on August 4.
The senior campaigner had played a good run-a-ball 49-run knock in the first T20. But he had managed eight unbeaten in the second T20I when rain halted the play.

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old Pollard has breached Article 2.4 of the ICC’s regulations. Well, the particular article sheds light on the punishment on refusing to comply with the umpire during the top-flight cricket.

As Article 2.4 is related to the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel, it equally carries statements which have had mentioned about instructions of the umpires.
Besides, the incident unfolded when Pollard had called for a substitute on the ground. However, for the nth times, the on-field official reiterated that Pollard should’ve made a formal request regarding the substitute fielder. Also, the officials had advised Pollard to wait until the completion of next over.

In the meantime, Pollard had failed to obey umpire’s instructions which had eventually irked the umpires.
However, Pollard had not accepted the offence. And, thus he had to present himself before match referee Jeff Crowe for the formal hearing. Therefore, Crowe, who is the part of Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees, has found the Caribbean guilty of breaching the norms.

Subsequently, it did not eventually end up Pollard being fined, but he had been a demerit point which could exceed in the 24 months.
Earlier, On-field umpires Gregory Braithwaite and Nigel Duguid, third umpire Leslie Reifer and fourth official Patrick Gustard had levelled the charges against Pollard.
