Kieron Pollard Confident Of Putting Up A Good Show In IND-WI Series
West Indies cricket team is currently girding up their loins for the vital series commencing from 6th December. Windies skipper Kieron Pollard shows confidence in his and teams’ performance before going up against the Men in Blue. Meanwhile, the Indian cricketers, who had emerged as overall champions currently, will also be preparing to face the Caribbean at home.
However, the Windies cricketers have the privilege of being used to Indian pitches as they’ve been playing on Indian soil for more than a month now. West Indies recently played three international series against Afghanistan who has their home ground in India.
Till now the two teams have played a three-match ODI series and as many T20 series. West Indies smashed Afghanistan in ODI, but they could not continue the winning streak in the T20I games. Afghanistan created history by winning their first international series against Windies. Meanwhile, in the recently concluded Test match, Caribbean defeated Afghanistan by nine wickets.
On the other hand, the hosts are running down the victorious lane in every format. Earlier, when India visited the West Indies, they defeated the then-hosts in all the three formats and that too in an unbeaten way. Recently, India beat Bangladesh in the three-match T20I series and also won the Test series, including winning the historic pink-ball game in the two-match Test series. Ever since their ouster from the World Cup 2019, the ICC top-ranked Test cricket team is fast climbing heights in the cricket world.
Kieron Pollard confident of himself and his team ahead of the IND-WI series
However, the Caribbean side currently has an exciting journey in India against the Afghanistan team. Already having a hands-on experience with the hosts has added to their advantage of playing at the Indian grounds for over a month.
Ahead of the awaited series, the Trinidadian cricketer Kieron Pollard showed full confidence in his team and himself. Polly believes that being the “underdogs” will give them the perfect advantage to go up against the strong team, that is growing stronger with each win.
“We are coming up against a harder opposition, we would be the underdogs, and that’s fine, but then again it is about going out there and executing and believing in your talent, once you do that anything is possible,” ESPNcricinfo quoted Pollard saying.
“There are boxes which need to be ticked off, when you do that, most times you end up on the right side of the result,” he added.
Nevertheless, the reigning T20 Champions have an exciting plan before the team marches up against the Men in Blue. Whereas with Virat Kohli back with the squad, India looks stronger than before in the Bangladesh series. And with the current form the team is in, the Indian squad will be confident while mounting up against the Caribbean on 6th December at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.
