India speedster Ishant Sharma, who was unsold after the 2017 IPL auction, will be seen in action in the upcoming season after the Kings XI Punjab franchise signed him for his services just a day before the start of the league. This news comes a massive relief to Ishant Sharma as well as his fans.
Ishant put himself in the auction at a high base price of 2 crores but unfortunately found no buyers as the franchise focussed on grabbing the young fast bowlers. His name came up twice but none of the eight franchises picked him. This saw him remain unsold.
However, Kings XI Punjab, after the evaluation of their bowling attack, realised that they need someone experienced to lead their bowling attack and eventually settled with the best option available in the unsold pool of players.
Glenn Maxwell-led side has Varun Aaron, Mohit Sharma, Darren Sammy, newbie T. Natarajan and Marcus Stoinis in their fast bowling arsenal already.
Ishant has played for a number of franchises starting from Kolkata Knight Riders, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad. He was a part of the Rising Pune Supergiant side in the last edition but found himself in the auction pool after the franchise did not retain him111.
The 28-year-old has 88 wickets from the 107 Twenty20 matches he has played and has an economy rate of 7.75 with best bowling figures of 5 for 12.
