KL Rahul, Bhuvneshwar Kumar To Make A Comeback In Ranji Trophy
Indian opener KL Rahul and the fast bowler Bhvneshwar Kumar are set to make a comeback in competitive cricket as both of them will mark their appearance in the next round of Ranji Trophy for their respective states. KL Rahul will be playing for Karnataka against Rajasthan at Vizag whereas Bhuvneshwar Kumar will lead the bowling department of Uttar Pradesh against Mumbai at Mysore in the sixth round of Ranji Trophy that starts on November 13, Sunday.
Both of them will have an opportunity to make a case for themselves as Indian squad for rest of the three Tests is yet to be announced, in case there is a vacant place, any of them or both of them can move in to replace that player. As of now, the Indian team has a total of 3 openers namely Murali Vijay, Gautam Gambhir and Karun Nair. The performance of Gambhir and Vijay will be a deciding factor for KL Rahul’s future. Talking of Nair, he might be dropped without even given a chance if KL Rahul performs in the Ranji Trophy.
As far as bowling department is concerned, Bhuvneshwar might have to wait for his opportunity as the presence of Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, and Ishant Sharma at the top makes it difficult for him to attract the attention of selectors. Still, there may be a case he might be recalled as he performed well in the only Test match he played in the series against New Zealand.
Availability of both i.e. KL Rahul and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will put selectors in dilemma for sure.
There is also a news that Shikhar Dhawan is also fit and is set to appear for Delhi in the seventh round of Ranji Trophy. Though he is match-fit and is ready to play at the moment but Delhi has been given a rest week, so they will not be playing the sixth round of Ranji Trophy. It will not be easy for Dhawan to make a comeback even after performing in Ranji Trophy as he has been dropped after being given ‘N’ number of chances which he failed to convert into big ones. He last played a Test match against New Zealand when he replaced injured KL Rahul in the second Test before himself getting injured, making way for Gautam Gambhir to open the innings.
