India’s young batsman KL Rahul has seen a meteoric rise in the year of 2016. Having earned the trust of Indian selectors with his stellar performance in the domestic circuit, the elegant batsman has made his claim by making 397 runs in IPL season to clinch his place in Indian team.
In no time, KL Rahul started showing consistency in Indian colours as he became only the third Indian to score hundreds in all the three formats for the country after Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma.
The 23-year old has been in form of his life as he remained consistent over the past 12 months and has managed to transform his form from domestic cricket to international level. He has also played an unbelievable knock in the ongoing Chennai Test but has failed to score a double century as he fell for 199 runs in the last session of Day 3.
Rahul has looked a much-improved player in IPL this season while representing Royal Challengers Bangalore and he has revealed that spending quality time with Virat Kohli and South Africa’s AB de Villiers has helped him improve his batting.
“I spent time with Virat and AB and asked them questions about what they thought I should do to improve my cricket and be successful in the shortest format. Their ideas and feedback did help me in improving my batting,” he had said.
The youngster could be the next big thing in Indian cricket as his impressive consistency is proving to be crucial in cementing his place across all the three formats for India. He has been one of the most run-scoring players for India post-2016 T20 World Cup despite being injured a couple of times over the past three months.
