KL Rahul has turned out to be the most versatile cricketer for India. In the past series, he has been scoring from every position given to him. But Team India’s cricketer Rahul has opined that he creates the best impact when he opens the innings.

KL Rahul has been fulfilling every role given to him in Team India. After Shikhar Dhawan got injured last year in December, he was given the chance to open the batting for India with Rohit Sharma. He went on to play blistering knocks for the team.

Earlier this year during the New Zealand tour, he donned the gloves as well played as an opener in the T20I series. The flamboyant batsman came out as the highest scorer in that series. Following in the ODI series, he was given finishers position. And unsurprisingly, he was best at that position as well.

However, KL Rahul believes he is at his best when he opens the innings in the shortest format. He reckons that he gets full 20 overs to get his team across the line.

“Opening the batting is something that I have done all my life and that is something I feel most comfortable doing. It gives me the chance to play full 20 overs and I make the best impact when I play full 20 overs,” Rahul said in a video released by the Indian Premier League on their website.

KL Rahul would be the first time captaining Kings XI Punjab in the IPL 2020 in the UAE. Talking about his journey with KXIP, he said that it has been fun so far and would try to win more games for the franchise.

“It’s been fun so far, I had two good seasons with Kings XI Punjab and will try to win a lot more games for my team,” said Rahul.

In the 2018 IPL, the right-handed batsman had smashed 659 runs for Kings XI Punjab at an average of 54.91. He was also the leading scorer in the last edition.

Currently, Rahul is in the UAE following the quarantine period after which he would start training for the tournament.
