KL Rahul Gives Away Man of the Match Cash Award to Chennai’s Animal Dispensary

India’s top-order batsman KL Rahul, who has received praise for his stunt in Team India, also is being applauded for his action towards animals. He donated cash award which he earned after winning the Man of the Match award in the second ODI match against Australia at Bengaluru.

Rahul had an impressive outing against the Kangaroos in the home ground. In Rajkot, he acted as a finisher, scoring 80 runs in 52 balls. He had also impressed one and all with his glovework, stumping Aaron Finch. His tremendous contribution handed him the Man of the Match trophy and cash price of Rs. 1 Lakh which he donated to the Besant Memorial Animal Dispensary (BMAD).

KL Rahul’s heartwarming gesture for Chennai’s animal dispensary:

Notably, Rahul’s kind gesture came to light after Shravan Krishnan, animal activist, posted a message on Facebook thanking the former. He also mentioned that this was not the first time that the cricketer had expressed his unconditional love for animals.

“It’s quite an amazing feeling to get support from your close friends for the work you do. Kl Rahul and I have been friends for close to 12 years, right from our U-17 state cricket days. KL was one of the most talented and hard-working cricketers from our batch and deservedly gone on to achieve much bigger things in cricket. After receiving the Man of the match against Australia in the second ODI, he promised to donate his cash reward of Rs. 1 lakh to BMAD,” wrote Shravan.

“And as he promised he donated his cash reward plus another 1 lakh towards BMAD. His gesture is going to help a lot of animals at BMAD and this is not the first time he has helped. He always messages me asking if we need help and follows every single post of our work. We at BMAD thank him for his contribution KL, thanks for being a champ on and off the field !” he added.

Meanwhile, Rahul, as an opener, had again brilliantly scored 56 runs in the first T20I match against New Zealand in Auckland. Also, he was given the duty of wicketkeeping as Rishabh Pant was dropped from the first T20I match in the five-match T20I series.
