Indian Wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul is likely to be available for the Indian team selection going into the Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023. The cricketer is reportedly set to play in a practice game in Bengaluru, which eventually will give a clear picture about the availability of the star batter for the Asia Cup.
The BCCI would want KL Rahul to be fully healthy for the October-starting World Cup as well as the Asia Cup 2023, which runs from August 30 to September 17. The 31-year-old missed out on the majority of the 2023 season due to the injury but is working to put his best foot forward to be fit for the marquee event in the country after 12 long years.
According to the reports, the star Indian batter is properly fit for the upcoming team India’s matches as he is close to achieving his full match fitness and asserted that he would be available for the selections for the Asia Cup 2023.
“He’s on his way to being properly fit and could be available for the Indian team’s upcoming matches. Previously, people had said that he wasn’t close to resuming batting in the nets, but he was seen batting on the same day. He is on the way to being fit and maybe, he will be available now,” sources maintained.
KL Rahul’s career has been marred by injuries and has injured himself during the Royal Challengers Bangalore game in the IPL 2023. He can be played in different positions according to match situations. The Karnataka batter has got better experience playing in different positions for the Indian team.
The 31-year-old has been a part-time wicket-keeper for the Indian team most of his career in the white ball format of the game, he has been behind the wickets rather often over the last few years due to the team combinations and the injuries to the key player in the crucial games.
In the ODI format, KL Rahul’s batting has helped the Indian team to play four frontline batters at the top of the orders as he plays the role of the finisher alongside Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja in the lower order down the order and will be a crucial player for the Men in Blue going into the Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023.
