KL Rahul Released From Karnataka Squad Due To India Commitments
India batsman KL Rahul has been released from Karnataka squad due to international commitments. He is a part of Indian team for the T20I series against New Zealand, that starts on November 1.
KL Rahul was surprisingly dropped from the Indian ODI squad for Dinesh Karthik, and the wicket-keeper batsman has grabbed the opportunity by scoring well in two ODIs he has played till now. Rahul, on the other hand, was called in the Ranji team for the game against Hyderabad along with Karun Nair. He did not have a good game, as he could just score 27 runs in two innings.
Karnataka have called in uncapped player Dega Nischal in the side. The right-handed batsman is yet to play any first-class or List A game. He last played in Karnataka Premier League in the year 2016. The batsman is expected to replace KL Rahul in the playing XI as well.
There is one more change in Karnataka squad. Pacer Sreenath Aravind has been dropped for Ronit More. Aravind could just scalp one wicket in two games and has been dropped from the side for the third contest. If included in playing XI, Ronit will play a first-class game after one year. It is to be noted that he had made a comeback to Karnataka squad past season after spending one year with Himachal Pradesh.
Karnataka will take on a strong Maharastra side from November 1 to 4 at Pune. The Vinay Kumar led side is currently at the top of the points table with two wins in the same number of games.
Meanwhile, Kedar Jadhav might turn out for Maharashtra for the contest. He is not the part of the India T20I squad for the three-matches T20I series against New Zealand. In fact, he might have a long stay with Maharashtra as India will play a Test series against Sri Lanka post conclusion of T20I series and Jadhav will be available for Maharashtra during the time as he is not the part of the Indian team in the longest format of the game.
Karnataka squad against Maharashtra: Vinay Kumar (C), Ravikumar Samarth, Dega Nischal, Karun Nair, Mayank Agarwal, Kaunain Abbas, Pavan Deshpande, CM Gautam (WK), Stuart Binny, Krishnappa Gowtham, Abhimanyu Mithun, Ronit More, Shreyas Gopal, Jagadeesha Suchith, Sharath Srinivas (WK).
