KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya got a big relief when their ban was uplifted by the Committee of Administrators. The duo who were suspended till inquiry missed the ODI series against Australia as well as the first ODI against New Zealand. Meanwhile, both of them are now available for national selection.
India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya will now join the team for the ODI series against New Zealand. He will not be able to play the second ODI against the Blackcaps. However, he is going to be in contention to play the third ODI against the hosts.
Rahul could get his chance in the T20I series.
On the other hand, KL Rahul will play the remaining three ODIs against England Lions. It is also reported by Times of India that KL Rahul will join the team for the T20I series against New Zealand.
The first T20I against the Kiwis will take place on February 6. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is rested for the final two ODI matches and the T20I series. Thus, Rahul might get his opportunity to play for the Men in Blue in absence of full-time skipper.
On the other hand, Shubman Gill and Vijay Shankar were named as the replacement for KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya respectively. In fact, both the rookie players will continue to be with the squad.
Hardik Pandya has not played any International cricket in the last four months. The Baroda all-rounder suffered a lower back injury while playing against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Asia Cup. Subsequently, he missed the series against Windies and Australia.
He was fit for the ODI series but was suspended for his crasser comments on the talk show, Koffee with Karan. The second ODI between New Zealand and India will take place at Bay Oval on January 26.
