IPL 2017: Kolkata Knight Riders v Royal Challengers Bangalore – Match 27th – Royal Challengers Bangalore Predicted XI

Royal Challengers Bangalore, who find themselves in a must-win situation, will be facing a strong challenge from Kolkata Knight Riders in the upcoming match no. 27 of the league stage at the Eden Gardens Stadium, Kolkata.

RCB made some improvement in the points table after their recent win over Gujarat Lions which took them to the fifth position overall. Each and every game will be highly important from this stage. RCB, at this stage, is in need of the miracle that helped them reach the playoff last year from a similar position.

Previous Encounter:

When RCB last met Kolkata Knight Riders, the Virat Kohli-led side was in dire needs of victories at that time as well. The venue was the same where these two sides are scheduled to meet later this weekend but the result was in favour of the visitors – RCB.

The KKR faced the wrath of the RCB’s holy trinity – Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, and AB De Villiers. The match was made to look like a one – sided affair as the trio nailed down the target of 184 set by KKR in just 18.4 over with 9 wickets in hand.

After being put to bat first, KKR rose on skipper Gautam Gambhir and Manish Pandey’s spectacular fifties and set a challenging total in front of the RCB. However, Gayle, Kohli and De Villiers were in no mood of getting intimidated and finished off the match with ease.

Recent Form:

RCB will definitely draw confidence from their recent win over the Lions. Chris Gayle finally appeared in his natural avatar while Kohli also looked fabulous. The absence of AB de Villiers will be felt (the final news on his fitness will be available in the match day) but Travis Head and Kedar Jadhav made sure the attacking flair was in full rhythm.

The fast bowling looks bit vulnerable. S. Aravind, Adam Milne and Shane Watson all went for a good amount of runs. KKR’s batting is as dangerous as RCB’s and the think tank must work out some swapping plans to ensure the bowlers don’t give away the match.

Talking Points:

One bowler out of the two – Tymal Mills and Samuel Badree – needs to come back. According to the current situation, Tymal Mills looks more as a necessity in the team. The left arm fast bowler missed the game against Lions due to an injury but is expected to be fit. Therefore, his return to the bowling line-up will add the much needs fire powder. He will naturally replace Adam Milne in the XI. The New Zealand quick hasn’t adapted well.

Also, if AB de Villiers becomes fit, Travis Head might have to sit out. It is very unlikely, Kohli will opt to keep Head in the side. Harpreet Singh, the Madhya Pradesh all-rounder also will be a talking point as there will be discussion whether the domestic talent will get his debut or not. He has come in as a replacement for injured Sarfraz Khan.

Here is the XI:

Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, Travis Head/AB de Villiers, Kedar Jadhav, Shane Watson, Mandeep Singh, Stuart Binny, Pawan Negi, Tymal Mills, S Aravind, Yuzvendra Chahal
