Former England captain Kevin Pieterson has called out his Twitter fans to help him name his latest unusual yet remarkable shot in the ongoing Ram Slam T20 domestic tournament.
Playing for the Dolphins in the Ram Slam tournament, he played a short yet impactful cameo in the semi-final leg by hitting 27 from 18 balls to help his team secure a berth in the finals of the tournament.
His tenure at the crease included a pair of sixes. The second six is the one that has become the talking point on the social media. By standing right in front of the off-stump, Pieterson struck a Wayne Parnell delivery, the line being outside off-stump and the ball being hit from a little above waist height with the ball landing in the stands between fine leg and square leg. The shot almost looked like the ever-famous helicopter shot from Dhoni but this one being hit from waist height instead from the low, near to the pad area which the Indian wicket-keeper hits.
Enjoying the shot himself, the Englishman has taken it to the social media, specifically Twitter and asked his Twitter fans to help him give a name for the shot. The winner would be announced the next day by the flamboyant batsman himself where he also pledged that he would give out his jersey from the finals to the winner.
Also renowned as the world’s most destructive switch-hitter, Pieterson has been a valuable performer for the Dolphins. Pietersen has only been to the crease six times for the Dolphins but has scored 391 runs at a strike-rate of 176.92 and an average of 97.75 to be the tournament’s second-leading run-scorer, a position he also occupied in last summer’s Big Bash.
After his stint with the Dolphins, he would look forward for more competitive T20 domestic cricket as he plans to re-join the Melbourne Stars in the upcoming KFC’s Big Bash League by next week.
What shall we call this shot? Best name wins my shirt from Saturday’s final… https://t.co/6jer4Zg2Ur
