Before going into the tournament, the franchise will be travelling to ICC Academy for a week long practice session, under the tutelage of Jacob Oram,

“We are delighted to have Mr. Atapattu on board as a mentor for Belagavi Panthers in the upcoming KPL. We are sure that his experience in the international arena will bring a lot of exposure to our players, and will help them reach the next level,” Mr. Ali Asfk Thara, owner of the franchise said.

“Oram has been a very useful cricketer in the T20 format. We are hoping that he can pass on some vital knowledge to our squad during the training in Dubai. With the weather in Dubai being very hot, we will be training mostly under lights. More than anything else the trip to Dubai is an opportunity to build a strong bond in the squad,” he added.

This is the second time when Attapatu will work in the backroom staff with a team, as earlier he had performed the role of an Assistant Coach of Sri Lankan cricket team from 2013 to 2015.

Coming to the franchise, the squad has likes of Manish Pandey, Stuart Binny, Sreenath Aravind, and India A player Krishnappa Gowtham are in the ranks. Pandey and Gowtham will skip the training in Dubai Academy, as the former one is a member of the Indian team for the limited over series against Sri Lanka, whereas, the latter one is a part of India A squad and is in South Africa.

Though Gowtham is expected to play full tournament after, as he will return well in time before the league starts. Pandey might skip the full season due to international commitments.
