Gowtham was the best all-rounder for Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy season 2016/17. He scored a total of 178 runs at an average of 25.42 and also bagged a total of 27 wickets in the tournament. His prowess in the tournament earned him an IPL contract worth R. 2 Crores with Mumbai Indians. He was expected to be the mainstay player for the team in IPL but didn’t get even a single game and warmed the bench whole season.
This time though he will expect to get a game to fill the devoid left by Jayant Yadav.
