Krunal Pandya Speaks About The Captaincy Differences Between Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma
The 28-year-old Krunal Pandya has played under both the captains. While the older Pandya is serving for the IPL team Mumbai Indians (MI) since 2016, he is playing every IPL season under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.
After making his international debut in last November, Krunal has played 14 T20Is. Out of these, he has played eight T20Is under Virat Kohli’s captaincy and six T20Is under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.
Recently, Krunal has claimed that both have very similar qualities in captaincy as he hasn’t found much difference between them.
Krunal told IANS, “They are both very successful captains and they are all about standing by the teammates. They are both brilliant leaders and be it Mumbai Indians or Team India, I always look to give it my 100 per cent. Have not really found much difference as they both go out to win.”
The dream is to represent India in the World T20 – Krunal Pandya
After playing 14 T20Is for the national team, Krunal has scored 102 runs and also taken 14 wickets. He has now set a goal to represent the national team in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 which Australia will organise from 18th October to 15th November 2020.
He claimed, “The dream is to represent India in the World T20. Every performance will matter, but that is a long-term goal. For now, it is about making it to the team in the next series and then do well. If I manage to keep performing, the goal of playing in the World T20 in Australia will obviously be fulfilled.”
However, Krunal Pandya is now focusing on the next international cricket assignment. In September, India will play the three-match home T20I series against South Africa ahead of the home Test series.
He added, “For now, the focus is the next series against South Africa. Always important to take it one at a time.”
The Windies series was a big confidence booster for the older Pandya
Krunal represented for the national team in the recently concluded T20I series against Windies. Apart from winning one Player of the Match award during the second T20I of that three-match series, he also won the Player of the Series award at the end. In that series, he scored 32 runs in two innings (average 32.00) and also took three wickets. His brilliant all-round performances helped India to win that series by the 3-0 margin.
Krunal admitted that the Windies series was the confidence booster for him. He is now looking forward to maintaining this impressive form for a longer period.
Krunal said, “The Windies series was a big confidence booster. It was the first series of the season and to do well against some quality players always helps. This is just the beginning and I will look to carry this forward into the next series.”
In this interview, Krunal has also claimed that he wants to represent the national team in every format.
