Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly has admitted that young KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav excites him the most apart from Indian skipper Virat Kohli.
Meanwhile, Rahul has proved his worth time and again in both home and overseas conditions. He also received support from legends of the game when dropped from the ODI squad against England.
On the other hand, Kuldeep has also garnered huge support from former cricketers. He has been in tremendous form in the limited-overs series against England
Rahul scored a swashbuckling unbeaten ton in the first T20I against England. His T20I average for 2018 stands as 47.60 after playing six innings. In ODIs, he has played just two matches this year.
“Virat Kohli – everybody is aware of him, but KL Rahul excites me. He’s a seriously good player, a player who’ll score runs everywhere, in all formats,” Ganguly said on a show in Cricbuzz.
Sourav Ganguly also mentioned the name of Kuldeep who has turned out to be a match-winner for Kohli. The young spinner returned with 14 wickets in the limited-overs series and made it to the Test side.
“Kuldeep Yadav also excites me. He’s tremendous. Kuldeep has got the ability to win you Test matches overseas. I think that’s important,” Ganguly added.
The former southpaw also mentioned Ajinkya Rahane, who has done consistently well abroad. However, he has not been properly used in the limited-overs cricket. Ganguly urged the team management to acknowledge and back his ability for a while to get the maximum results.
Meanwhile, India will start their Test series against England on August 1 at Edgbaston. They will play a five-match Test series against the English side and will look to win their first series since 2007.
