The Indian spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal has been an integral part of team India since 2017 when they replaced Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in the team. The spot for a spinner in the India National Cricket Team has always been a tough spot to fight for as the country has never been short of producing legendary spinners.

A fine leg arm spinner in Yuzvendra Chahal and an unorthodox chinaman in Kuldeep Yadav have been India’s face of spin attack for quite some time now and are indispensable in the team. However, surprisingly they have not been picked up together in the T20 lineup since July 2018, despite them performing well playing together.

He has always taken care of me, like an elder brother: Kuldeep Yadav on Yuzvendra Chahal

The spin duo of Yadav and Chahal has been a proven match-winner for team India. They both have developed a strong bond with each other both on and off the field. 25-year old, Kuldeep Yadav has stated that Chahal has always taken care of him like an elder brother and has always given him good advice. He also mentioned there is no competition between them, despite whichever gets the starting place in the team.

“He has always taken care of me, like an elder brother. Even now, after playing so many matches together, even off the field, he gives me advice on cricket as well as off cricket. He supports me, and this bond is visible on the field as well. We’ve never had a competition between us, irrespective of which of us gets picked to play,” Kuldeep Yadav told the RCB website.

Team India have refrained to put Chahal and Yadav together in the lineup for a long time

Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have played 34 ODIs together and taken 65 wickets at an average of 22.73. The numbers are quite astounding, yet India have not picked them together in the ODI team since their ICC World Cup 2019 group stage clash against England.  Their T20 record together is decent with the duo getting 22 wickets in 10 matches, yet they haven’t been picked together since July 2018 in India’s starting 11. The decision of the Indian team to not pick them together has been very confusing, the reason being they have performed utterly well whenever they have started together for the team.
