Kumar Sangakkara to be a part of Pakistan Super League
Kumar Sangakkara, the former Sri Lankan batting legend has signed up with the Pakistan Super League, and will feature in the inaugural edition of the tournament.
The first edition of the PSL will be played between February 4 to February 24 2016 in Dubai and Sharjah. Sangakkara’s signing will be a massive boost to PSL, as the Sri Lankan has a massive fan following across the globe.
“Sangakkara is a world-class sportsman and we are excited to welcome him on board. He brings a wealth of experience to the PSL. His inclusion makes the player draft even more exciting,” said Najam Sethi, chairman of the PSL governing council.
Soon after retiring from all forms of international cricket, Sangakkara also signed up with the Hobart Hurricanes and will feature in the Big Bash League in Australia. Along with that, Sangakkara is due to represent Surrey as his contract with the county lasts till 2017.
Recently, Shane Watson was another prominent name who had signed up for the PSL. With Sangakkara’s signing, there have been more than 150 foreigners who have officially made themselves available to the PSL.
The auction and bidding for the franchises will soon begin, and following that, the player auction will take place.
