If reports are to be believed, a shocking act has come to notice that Anil Kumble, the Head Coach of Indian cricket team leaked the talks in the dressing room with outside media. As per a report in DNA, Kumble has a WhatsApp group in which he shares the talks with his trusted journalists,
“We’ve been told that there is a WhatsApp group created by Kumble of his few trusted media friends and few confidential talks between him and senior players were leaked through that,” a senior BCCI official said.
The reports added that Kumble leaked the news of talks with players on more than one occasion that did not please the members of the team which have now sparked a controversy ahead of the Champions Trophy.
As reported earlier, the first rift between the two occurred when Kumble wanted to play Kuldeep Yadav in Ranchi Test against Australia but Kohli did not include him. Kohli was ruled out of the next Test match due to a shoulder injury and Kuldeep Yadav was included in the playing XI for the game, making his Test debut. The move to rope in Kuldeep was supposed to do something with the influence of Kumble due to the fact that the coach has good tuning with Indian spin department.
Again, a tiff emerged among the two when Kumble proposed a hike in his pay along with players plus extra hike for Virat Kohli in front of COA. This move from Kumble was seen as an action from him to strengthen his case in front of the committee. Kohli reportedly wasn’t amused by coach proposing his name for an extra hike for the responsibilities which he discharges as the captain of the side.
With so much progress going in the matter, it can be said that now BCCI is looking for a change due to the fact that there can be two voices in the dressing room.
Till now, there has been no news on any other any applicant rather than Virender Sehwag and in all possibilities, either Sehwag or Ravi Shastri will take over the reins. BCCI is expected to announce the new coach after the completion of Champions Trophy.
