Lalbazar Police has summoned Mohammed Shami’s brother following a complaint by Shami’s wife, Hasin Jahan.
Meanwhile, when Shami is having a turmoil in his personal life, his life on the field is also not too good. After a good start against Kolkata Knight Riders, Shami got a good beating by Andre Russell.
He gave away 53 runs in his full quota taking only one wicket, as Delhi lost the match by 71 runs.
Moreover, the recent incident has taken a toll on his cricketing career, as he had a very poor start to the IPL.
However, Shami’s wife took the cricketing world by storm after she took to Facebook, sharing WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger photos of Shami’s alleged chats with women, and claiming that the cricketer had extra-marital affairs.
Jahan also claimed Shami forced her to have a physical relationship with his brother. Meanwhile, Shami denied all the allegations and asked for a thorough inquiry.
Jahan filed a written complaint against the cricketer and his four family members in Kolkata’s Jadavpur police station.
He has asked for some time
The police noted Shami’s brother has asked for some time on health grounds. He also added Shami would also go through the procedure.
“We got a call where he sought more time on health grounds. We allowed him five days, considering the plea,” an officer said. “Shami’s brother has a case of rioting against him,” he added to TOI.
Meanwhile, Shami’s brother neither replied to an email or through his lawyer on Saturday and asked for more time.
While it is also clear Shami will also face some questions but the time is not known.
“Given that the FIR mentions serious penal charges, even non-bailable ones, it is imperative that Shami will be questioned and his statement recorded,” said the police.
Jahan, meanwhile, on Monday said she has complete faith in the police.
“I have complete faith in the police,” said Jahan.
