Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray had hosted a meeting between melody queen Lata Mangeshkar and legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar in his mansion. The aim of this rendezvous was to give over a present to Tendulkar by Lata Mangeshkar.
Sachin was seemed to be really glad at this get-together. Tendulkar had always wanted something that belongs to the Nightingale of Bollywood to enrich his personal music room. “I am moving into a new house. So, I wanted to have some kind of article which Lata Didi had used, to keep it in my music room. Something like a handkerchief,” the master-blaster said this evening at Thackeray’s residence.
Tendulkar has disclosed that Lata Mangeshkar has always been a mate for him. “When I used to go to play cricket abroad, I used to listen to music, especially songs sung by Lata Didi. You (Lata Mangeshkar) have been my silent companion,” he said.
Lata Ji has always braced him with a motherly attachment. She is very affectionate not only to cricketer Tendulkar but to the human being Tendulkar also. “I loved his cricket a lot. As a human being, also I like him a lot” Lata Ji said.
She has gifted him two frames with the lyrics of her evergreen hit songs ‘Piya tose Naina Lage’ and ‘Tu Jahan Jahan chalega’. “She used to bless me like a mother whenever I went to her. I am like her son.” Overwhelmed Tendulkar replied. He also showed gratitude to his fellow Bharat Ratna recipient Lata Ji by presenting her an autographed jersey of him.
While he took retirement from all three types of International Cricket, Lata Mangshkar thinks he could bat more and he should not take retirement so early. “I am sad that he has retired from the game. He should have played for some more time,” Lata said.
Raj Thackeray was very happy to host a get-together like this and to witness something out of the world. He had praised both of these Marathi legends in the past at different public platforms and party meetings for their monumental contribution to their respective disciplines.
