It is hardly any surprise that the top two spots in the latest ICC test rankings for batsmen are occupied by South African batsmen – South Africa’s dominance in international cricket is confirmed by their lead of 21 rating points over 2nd placed India.

Following the conclusion of the 2nd test at Port Elizabeth, which South Africa claimed by 231 runs to take the 3-match series into a decider, the South African quartet of Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis, JP Duminy and Dean Elgar were the biggest gainers in the latest Reliance ICC Player Rankings.

AB de Villiers strengthened his position at the top with his 12th consecutive fifty in test match innings, while compatriot Hashim Amla, who smashed his 21st career century, moved up a couple of places to join Sri Lanka‘s Kumar Sangakkara on 879 rating points and a share of the 2nd spot.

Australian opener Chris Rogers ‘ second innings century of 107 has earned him a return to the Top 20 in the rankings, alongside three of his teammates – Michael Clarke(9th), David Warner (10th) and Steve Smith who occupies the 17th position.

South African Faf du Plessis is however the biggest mover in the pack – his scores of 55 and 24 has taken the CSK opening batsman to 29th in the latest rankings.

Virat Kohli  remains the only Indian batsman in the Top 10.
