Well, after slipping down to 7th spot in the Test ranking, Team India has been able to hold their 2nd spot in the latest ICC ranking for ODI. Also fortifying their claim, three Indian batsmen – Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and Mahendra Singh Dhoni – feature among the top-10 ODI batsmen.
Among all three, Kohli continues to be the highest-ranked Indian batsman at number 4 in the latest rankings, whereas Dhawan is still standing at 6th place while MS Dhoni is firmly holding the spot at 8th in the charts. The chart is still headed by South Africa’s AB De Villiers.
However, there’s no Indian in the top-10 of the bowlers’ list, which is being headed by Australia’s Mitchell Starc.
The recent scintillating performance of Team India, during the recently concluded World Cup has helped them in improving their spot In the One-day team rankings and they were able to retain second place by virtue of making the last four stages in World Cup.
As on date, with 116 points Team India is just six points behind World champions Australia, who have 122 rating points. Closely following India are South Africa (112), Sri Lanka (108), New Zealand (107), England (101) and Pakistan (95).
However, Pakistan could lose their seventh spot if they lose 0-3 to Bangladesh in the upcoming thee-match ODI series, starting in Mirpur on Friday. On the other hand, they have a chance to reduce England’s six-point advantage by one if they win the series 3-0, while a 2-1 victory will ensure Azhar Ali’s team remain on 95 points.
