Recently, Bharat Arun – the bowling coach of Indian cricket team – during India’s tour of Sri Lanka, said that team India needs a left-handed pacer in the ranks for 2019 World Cup. At present, the Indian team does not have any left-handed pacer, but they have tried a few in the past, an experiment which did not work.

Barinder Sran was named in the Indian team for Australia tour after he impressed Indian skipper Virat Kohli ahead of Mohali Test against South Africa in 2015 but he too could not have an extended stay, and India’s search for a left arm pacer is still on.
Amidst this, RP Singh, one of the best left-handed pacer of India, who is commentating during India and Australia series has explained the importance of a left-arm pacer in the team,
“Bowling with the left hand is something that has to come naturally to a player. Left-handers are always useful as many batsmen find it difficult to play the left-right combination. It’s the angles that the bowler gets to bowl. It’s difficult to pick the arc. And If the bowler is tall, then the bounce and length will be difficult to read. They are indeed a rare tribe,” he told The Indian express.
RP Singh was impressed by the Australian cricket team, which has been producing a left-handed pacer on regular basis as he praised the duo of Mitchell Johnson and Mitchell Starc,
“If you see Australia, they have produced some quality left-arm seamers as they had natural ability. Mitchell Johnson was deadly and a delight to watch. At the moment Mitchell Starc is the best in the world. He is sharp, nippy and bowls the effective yorker. India will do well to get one,’’ he added.
If looking at the domestic cricket, there are few names which can be one of those to fulfill Arun’s dream of having one left-handed pacer in the side.

Players like Chama Milind, Kulwant Khejroliya, Pawan Suyal and many more are few of the players who have age by their side and have the time to do well to be that one player whom the bowling coach of India wants in the team for the World Cup 2019.
However, they have to come up with something out of the box to be accelerated to the Indian team in the coming years.
