Legendary spinner Shane Warne congratulates R Ashwin and Yasir Shah
Legendary spinner Shane Warne has heaped lavish praise on Ravichandran Ashwin and Yasir Shah for their brilliant performances with their respective teams.
The Indian off-spinner and the Pakistani leg-spinner have been in red-hot form in the last one year or so. Both of them have wreaked havoc on the opposition batsmen in the subcontinental conditions and the consistency with which they have done it has been receiving accolades from all corners.
After bagging the Man of the Series award in West Indies, Ashwin continued his scintillating form with the red-cherry during the recently concluded Test series against New Zealand. He took 27 wickets in only three matches as India made a clean sweep of the series. In the process, he became the second fastest bowler to take 200 Test wickets and reclaimed the number one position in ICC bowler’s ranking. His phenomenal success with the ball has seen him becoming the bowler with the best strike-rate among the spinners who have taken 100 or more wickets in Tests in the last 100 years.
On the other hand, Yasir Shah is also not very far behind the Indian spinner in terms of performance. His seven-wicket haul in the recently-concluded first Test against West Indies helped his team to win a thrilling match. In the process, he broke Ashwin’s record of the fastest Asian to take 100 Test wickets. He achieved the milestone in 17 Tests while Ashwin took his 100th wicket in 18th Test.
Congratulating the bowlers on their brilliant success in recent times, Shane Warne tweeted:
