2019 can be said as the comeback year for the unorthodox batsman Steve Smith. After serving a one-year-ban in the ball-tampering case, Smith played the first Test match against England. In Ashes 2019, he was the highest scorer although he missed one Test match because of concussion.
During the home Test series against Pakistan, he surpassed the Test runs tally of the Australian legend Don Bradman. In eight Tests of 2019, Smith scored 965 runs at an average of 74.23. He struck three centuries and four half-centuries, becoming the second-highest scorer in 2019.
