  1. Yuvraj Singh 12-ball fifty vs England at Durban:

The swashbuckling Yuvraj Singh made things quite comfortable with the willow swing, and it eventually paid him rich dividends during his mixed career. He tops the chart of players with the fastest fifty in T20 cricket.

In 2007 Twenty20 World Cup, Yuvraj Singh played a significant role for Team India at the Kingsmead Durban. He bagged a record of six sixes in an over of Stuart Broad.

Interestingly, with his blitzkrieg, Yuvraj further became the fastest batsman in the world to register quickest T20 fifty. He took just 12 balls to go past the half-century mark on 19th of July 2007.

While scoring at the strike-rate of 362.50, Yuvraj scored 58 off 16 balls before being caught by Paul Collingwood on the bowling of Andrew Flintoff. His innings was laced with seven sixes and three fours.

  1. Chris Gayle 12-ball fifty vs Adelaide Strikers at MCG:

Before being scrapped from the Big Bash League (BBL) roster over his controversial interview with Mel McLaughlin, Windies star batsman Chris Gayle had already left an indelible mark in the Australia-based T20 domestic professional league. He is second amongst the players with fastest fifty in T20 cricket.

The southpaw represented one of the BBL franchises Melbourne Renegades to register individual record in the T20 circuit. Gayle smashed 50 off just 12 balls against Adelaide Strikers at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on January 18, 2016.

The prominent batsman Gayle during his 17-minute stay at the crease scored 56 off 17 balls which included seven sixes and two fours. However, his knock vent in vain as Renegades was bowled out on 143 while chasing the competitive total of 171.

  1. Hazratullah Zazai 12-ball fifty vs Balk Legends at Sharjah:

In the first-ever edition of the Afghanistan Premier League (IPL), promising Afghan batter, Hazratullah Zazai smashed a brilliant fifty against Balk Legends at historic Sharjah Stadium.

The 2o-year-old opening batsman Zazai stepped up for Kabul Zwanan with his sheer display of power hitting. Zazai jumped to the third position among veteran players with fastest fifty in T20 cricket.

On October 14, 2018, Zazai took on Legends’ bowlers early on. While chasing the massive target of 245, Zazai did best to keep his team in the hunt of overhauling the target.

Zazai managed to score 62 off 17 balls. He further registered seven sixes and four boundaries to his name.

Eventually, Zwanan lost the game by 21 runs as they could manage 223 for seven in 20 overs.

  1. Marcus Trescothick 13-ball fifty vs Hampshire at Taunton:

Marcus Trescothick, who led premium English County side Somerset might be a surprise pick for many among the list of players with fastest T20 fifty. However, the former England opening batsman Trescothick achieved this feat against Hampshire at Taunton on 9th of July 2010.

Batting first Hants put up 216 for five in 20 overs courtesy Neil McKenzie and Sean Ervine’s fifties. In response, Somerset chased down the target in 18 overs with six wickets.

The left-handed batsman Trescothick smashed fifty off 13 balls before being caught and bowled by Danny Briggs after scoring 27-ball 78. He smashed seven sixes and seven fours respectively.

On the other side, Trescothick’s opening partner Peter Trego remained unbeaten on 72 off 44 deliveries. He registered eight fours and three sixes to clinch the Friends Provident T20 game for Somerset.

  1. Imran Nazir 14-ball fifty vs Lahore Eagles at Lahore:

One of the clean strikers of the cricketing ball happened to be Pakistan’s, Imran Nazir. He bagged the fastest to reach fifty record at Lahore while representing Shoaib Malik-led Sialkot Stallions during the 2005 ABN-AMRO T20 Cup.

The elegant batsman has the knack of playing breezy innings in the white-ball set-up. Nazir earned the fifth spot on the list of players with fastest fifty in T20 cricket.

On April 5, 2005, while batting first, Stallions didn’t have a good start as Shahid Yousuf, and Shaiman Anwar returned to the pavilion without doing much for the team. But alongside skipper Malik, Nazir played some audacious shots to put pressure back on the opposition led by Salman Butt.

Stallions set the target of 211 for Eagles. He scored 19-ball 54 with the help of six fours and fours sixes. However, owing to a thriller of a contest, Eagles chased down on final delivery of the match with three wickets in hand. Butt was the top-scorer for Eagles with 67 off 50 balls.

  1. GL Brophy 14-ball fifty vs Derbyshire at Derby:

On 10th of July 2007, during the NatWest T20 Cup Yorkshire’s wicketkeeper-batsman Gerard Brophy registered fastest fifty against Derbyshire at Derby. Yorkshire batted first to post 210 for three in 20 allotted. White scored 33-ball 50. His innings included eight fours and a six.

On the other side, Brophy played a scintillating 18-ball knock of 57 during his 19-minute stay at the crease.

Also, Brophy’s strike-rate read as staggering 316.66 before he was adjudged lbw on the bowling of Steffan Jones.

In response, Derbyshire had a rollicking start. They posted 34 in 2.1 overs before the rain interrupted the game. However, the exciting contest further culminated without any result.

  1. K Noema-Barnett 14-ball fifty vs Otago at Invercargill:

In the HRV Cup at Invercargill on December 12, 2010, Kieran Noema-Barnett while representing Central Districts in New Zealand’s domestic T20 registered a record in his kitty. He is overall seventh on the list of players with fastest fifty in T20 cricket.

Noema-Barnett remained unbeaten on 57 off 18 balls after smashing 14-ball fifty against Kiwis First-class club Otago. It eventually helped his side to chase down the target of 176 with seven wickets in hand in 17.3 overs.

During his quickfire knock, Noema-Barnett smashed seven maximums and three fours for Districts to guide his team home spectacularly.

  1. Kieron Pollard 14-ball fifty vs Leewards Islands at Antigua:

In Antigua, promising Windies all-rounder Kieron Pollard is listed overall eighth among players with the fastest fifty in T20 cricket.

On January 11 2012, Pollard flexed his muscles against the Leewards Islands to score 14-ball fifty. While representing his domestic side Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean T20 Cup Group A game, Pollard remained unbeaten on 56 off 15 balls. He smashed seven sixes and two fours to help his side post 211 runs after winning the toss.

However, in response Islands was blown out on just 44 in 12.5 overs as Tobago won the game by 167 runs. Sunil Narine was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, and his spin partner Samuel Badree bagged three wickets. Moreover, paceman Ravi Rampaul eked out three wickets, and Dwayne Bravo managed to pick the wicket of Anthony Martin.

  1. Colin Munro 14-ball fifty vs Sri Lanka at Auckland:

Big-hitter of the cricketing ball, Colin Munro is one of the premium names who has had set the T20 on fire with their hard-hitting prowess. The batting sensation is on the ninth spot among players with fastest fifty in T20 cricket.

While playing at home, Munro smashed a 14-ball fifty against Sri Lanka at Auckland on 10th of January 2016.

Batting first, the visitors post 142 for eight on the board which was easily chased down by New Zealand in 10 overs with nine wickets in hand. For the Lions, Angelo Mathews remained unbeaten on 49-ball 81.

However, in the run chase Kiwis lost their skipper Kane Williamson, who scored 21-ball 32. Coming to bat at one drop, Munro during his 16-minute stay thrashed Lankan bowlers all-around the park. He scored exactly 50 which was laced with seven sixes and a four.

On the other side, opening batsman Martin Guptill remained not out on 63 after facing just 25 deliveries.

  1. Farhaan Behardien 14-ball fifty vs Warriors at East London:

On December 11, 2016, East London witnessed some pyrotechnics from the bat of South African National Cricket Team batsman Farhaan Behardien who represented Titans in the CSA T20 Challenge. He is tenth on the list of players with fastest fifty in T20 cricket.

In the rain-curtailed fixture, Titans batted first to post 82 for two on the board. After losing both the openers in the form of Jonathan Vandiar and Heino Kuhn, Behardien accelerated the innings alongside wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen (17* off 9).

The batting all-round Behardien remained unbeaten on 55 off just 15 balls. With a strike-rate of 366.66, Behardien’s innings was laced with five sixes and four fours.
