The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on December 17th announced that Lord’s will host the final of the 2019 ICC World Cup and 2017 Women’s World Cup final. Lord’s had earlier also staged the finals of the 1975, 1979, 1983 and 1999 World Cup.
The ECB also revealed that the semi-finals of the 2019 ICC World Cup will be held at Old Trafford at Manchester and Edgbaston in Birmingham. The other venues which will host the matches of the 2019 World Cup are the Oval, Taunton, Chester-le-Street, Headingley, Trent Bridge, Cardiff, Bristol and the Rose Bowl.
Meanwhile, Headingley, Old Trafford, Lord’s, the Oval and Edgbaston will host the five Ashes Tests in 2019.
The ICC Champions Trophy will be held in England in 2017 and Cardiff, the Oval and Edgbaston will host matches in a repeat of 2013, with the Oval staging the final.
England will also face the winners of the ICC Test Challenge at Lord’s in 2019 with a four-match series between the 10th-ranked Test nation and winner of the ICC Intercontinental Cup deciding their opponents.
