Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer is delighted with his team’s performance against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He is especially impressed with the pacers Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje and said that he was lucky to have them in the squad.
Delhi Capitals, with the help of Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan‘s 94 runs partnership, set up 176 runs target against CSK. They were also successful in defending the target because Kagiso Radaba and Anrich Nortje bowled economical overs and picked wickets at regular intervals.
The spinner Amit Mishra and Axer Patel also didn’t leak runs easily. But DC’s lousy fielding might have costed them. Shimron Hetmyer two times dropped the catch of Faf du Plessis, who went on to score 43 runs.
Shreyas Iyer said that he would not wholely blame players for misfielding, stating that the lights might have hampered them in eyeing the ball.
“I am really happy with the performance. I would give them the benefit of doubt, which is tough to catch in these conditions. You misjudge the ball, really don’t know how to pace yourself,” Shreyas Iyer said.
Shreyas Iyer happy with the team’s overall performance:
Overall, Iyer is happy with his team’s performance. He praised the openers and the pacer Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje, who was bought after Chris Woakes backed out from the tournament.
“In the team meeting, we decided that we are going to assess the batting conditions early and then play accordingly. The way the openers started gave us a lot of confidence and the finish was good too. I am lucky to have KG and Nortje in the team. It’s important to stick together as a team and we need to enjoy each other’s success,” Iyer signed off.
Delhi Capitals have registered two successive wins after winning the match against CSK. They had won their opening match against KXIP in the thrilling match. In their next match, they will face SunRisers Hyderabad.
