'M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story' becomes the second highest earning movie of 2016! 1

Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s biographical film ‘M.S. Dhoni – The has become the second highest earning movie of this year with a total domestic collection of Rs 129.50 crores.

Currently, in its third week, even before the release, the biopic was earmarked for a huge success and one can say that the movie has justified the huge buzz and anticipation surrounding it. The third-week collections of the biopic are- Monday- Rs. 63 lakhs, Tuesday- Rs. 61 lakhs, Wednesday- Rs. 60 lakhs, Thursday – Rs. 54 lakhs.

The Sushant Singh-starrer movie traces the journey of the Ranchi boy, who crossed numerous barriers and fought against all the odds to realize his dream of donning the Indian jersey. Dhoni’s journey from a T.C in the Indian Railways to the pinnacle of world cricket forms the crux of the story.

The most decorated skipper of India, MS Dhoni was one of India’s most popular cricketers in the country right now and to cash in on his huge popularity, the makers of the biopic released on 4500 screens on September 30. As expected, the movie shattered several records on its opening day and  left behind the likes of Fan and Houseful 3 in terms of opening day collection and recorded a total of Rs 21.30 crores which was the second highest opening collection of the year.

The movie continued its meteoric rise on the following days too and kept on shattering records. There were speculations that the movie’s business might take a tumbling due to the release of other movie but the biopic continued its strong show at the box office and collected Rs 112.70 crore till October 10.
