‘M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story’ becomes sixth highest grossing movie of the year after only 5 days

As expected Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s biographical film, ‘M.S.Dhoni – The Untold Story’ is making waves at the Box Office. One of the best movies of its genre, the biopic hit the theatres with a bang as it registered second highest opening and opening weekend business total of the year so far. Well, looking at the hype and anticipation surrounding the movie even before its release, it is not surprising at all that it has done so well at the Box Office.
The Neeraj Pandey directed flick covers India’s most decorated skipper’s journey from an ordinary boy to one of the biggest cricket stars of the world. The inspiring crux of the movie has been very well complimented by the brilliant acting and as a result, it has received an overwhelming response from the audience all around the country.
In the opening weekend, the biopic registered a brilliant attendance throughout and collected a whopping amount of Rs 66 crores from domestic screens. On its first day, it left behind the likes of Fan and Houseful 3 in terms of opening day collection and recorded a total of Rs 21.30 crores followed by Rs 20.60 crores on Saturday and 24.10 crores on Sunday. It also did a promising business in overseas too and collected Rs 21.96 crores till Sunday.
Now the movie has entered the weekdays phase and as expected it is getting a lower attendance. On Monday, there was an alarming drop of 60 percent compared to Friday and collected Rs 8.51 crores. On the second day of the week, it added Rs 7.98 crores* to its account.
So after Tuesday i.e. the fifth day, the Sushant Singh Rajput starrer movie has collected a net amount of Rs 82.49 crores* and a gross income of Rs 114.57 crores*. Meanwhile, it has surpassed the lifetime total of Baaghi (75.73 crores) in just 5 days of its release and has emerged as the 6th highest grossing movie of the year so far on domestic box office.
