‘M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story’ continues its meteoric rise: Breaks the collection record of first two days on third day

Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s biographical film ‘M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story’ has continued its strong show at the box office for the third straight day. Just like Dhoni’s explosive batting send the fans into a frenzy, his movie is also hitting huge sixes at the theatres. The biopic is receiving huge accolades from all the corners of the country and after the end of the third day, one can say that it has taken a big step towards the 100 crore club.
The movie registered a bumper opening on September 30 when it collected a whopping amount of Rs 21.30 crore. It also became the second highest opener of 2016, after Salman Khan-starrer Sultan and left behind the likes of Fan and Houseful 3.
The second-day collection was even better and the movie collected Rs 20.60 crores. One of the reasons for the movie’s strong showing at the Box Office is the popularity of Dhoni in every corner of the country. Most decorated skipper of the country, Dhoni took India to unprecedented heights in cricket and it was very much expected that the movie would be a huge hit. However, the movie has exceeded all the expectations and it is looking set to break several records.
The movie continued its rise and collected higher amount than the previous two days. On Sunday, the biopic added the amount of 22.30 crores* to its account.With this, the movie has collected Rs 64.20 crores* in the opening weekend.
Sushant Singh Rajput, who is playing the lead in the movie, has done a commendable job. Other actors like Anupam Kher and Rajesh Sharma have also played their role brilliantly. And looking at the trends, it is safe to say that the movie has the potential to become one of the highest grosser of this year. Well, it is still early days to predict anything about the movie but Dhoni’s involvement can take the movie to a long way.
