Madan Lal Reacts To Virat Kohli’s ‘Lack Of Clarity’ Statement Over Rohit Sharma’s Injury

Former Indian cricketer and current member of Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) Madan Lal has supported Team India’s captain Virat Kohli for speaking of lack of communication within the management over Rohit Sharma‘s injury. Ahead of the start of the ODI series, Kohli had stated that he wasn’t made clear that why the opener didn’t travel with them to Australia even after playing for Mumbai Indians in the last IPL matches, including the grand finale.
During the mid of the IPL, Rohit sustained a hamstring injury and thus, missed a couple of matches. But he returned to play the last league match and the qualifier which indicated that he is fit. Albeit, he didn’t travel with India for Australia’s tour.
Consecutively, BCCI stated that he was still not fit and has joined National Cricket Academy. However, after Virat Kohli’s big revelation, the board opened up that Rohit had returned to India to meet his ailing father but he is currently, in NCA and his final call to travel to Australia will be taken only after the fitness assessment test on December 11.
Communication which is required is not happening: Madan Lal
Reacting to the whole episode, Madan Lal said that communication in the team is not at a good level which is a worrying factor.
“Whatever Virat Kohli said in his press conference that is absolutely correct, I back him for the same because clarity with the captain is a must as the leader runs the team. Both coach and captain should be aware of what is happening with their players. Only Rohit or his franchise (Mumbai Indians) can answer why he played for the franchise when he was just 70 percent fit. I think that the communication in the team should be on a good level. The kind of communication which is required is not happening, there should be clarity regarding what is happening,” Madan Lal told ANI.
Meanwhile, India has lost the ODI series with back to back defeats in the first and second game. They are set to play the last and third ODI in Canberra.
